Craniomandibular dysfunction /
Jaw Joint treatment
The temporomandibular joint occupies a special position in the body due to its combined rotating and sliding function as a double joint.
Therefore, the crushing of food, the functions of the teeth, jaw joint and chewing muscles should be optimally coordinated so that there are no painful conditions in these areas.
CMD treatment is one of the key services in our practice in Berlin Charlottenburg.
Craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD) is understood to be a series of clinical symptoms of the masticatory muscles, the jaw joints and the associated structures in the mouth and head area, which can be painful.
CMD Therapy:
Bite aid (occlusal splint)
Physiotherapy (manual therapy)
Muscle exercises, stress management
Short-term drug therapy
Acupuncture
Bite Aid
Especially in the case of craniomandibular dysfunction and pain in the area of the masticatory system, it is important that new dentures and bite splints are designed to fit and be tailored to the individual circumstances and needs of the patient.
Various splints are offered in our practice. In addition to simple crunching splints or adjusted bite splints, myocentric splints and/or printed splints can also be designed.
In addition, Modjaw can be used to record the individual temporomandibular joint movements and to be able to take them into account for the splint production - for an occlusal splint that fits even better into the chewing system.
Was ist Funktionsdiagnostik?
Clinical functional diagnostics
Clinical functional diagnostics includes the examination of: teeth, periodontium, jaw joint, chewing muscles, lip, cheek and tongue muscles as well as the regulation of the structures mentioned by the nervous system.
Instrumental functional diagnostics
Instrumental functional diagnostics includes the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of joint movement patterns. The interaction of the jaw joint, masticatory muscles and rows of teeth is analyzed.
We use special devices such as articulators, face bows and computer-aided recording systems available for this purpose. Nowadays, the possibility of instrumental functional diagnostics is greatly expanded by using Modjaw.
Modjaw has revolutionized functional diagnostics, as the complex movements of the jaws and temporomandibular joints can be recorded, examined and replayed in detail. You can subsequently examine the movements several times, and from whichever view and level you want, in order to be able to precisely identify the influencing factors and problems.
Practical approach and benefits of instrumental functional diagnostics
The patient's jaws are scanned using the intraoral scanner. The data sets are entered into the Modjaw software. With the help of Modjaw, the individual jaw movements are then recorded, the joint axis is determined and everything is evaluated and saved.
These measured values of the instrumental functional analysis are transferred to our dental laboratory and are considered for the surface and cusp slope of your prosthetic work.
In this way, you receive crowns, bridges and prostheses that fit your jaw joints and your individual chewing movements, right from the start!
